We've had Karl Largerfeld, Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel and even Jimmy Choo. Now Lanvin is set to join the illustrious ranks of designers to create cut-price collections for H&M. The High Street chain piqued the industry's interest with a series of clips on YouTube featuring almost Zoolander-like silhouettes of designers talking about what it was like to collaborate with H&M. And after much speculation, H&M confirmed today that Lanvin was the label in question.(picture: Shoppers queued outside H&M ahead of the launch of Stella McCartney's range for the chain. The Lanvin line is set to have the same response.
H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less,' Elbaz explained. Translating the dream: Alber Elbaz wants to take H&M to a luxury level, rather than taking Lanvin downmarket 'I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. 'This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.'
