Salma Hayek certainly grabbed the spotlight on the Cannes red carpet last week when she debuted the first-ever gown from Gucci Première, the brand’s new couture label, at the inaugural night screening of Robin Hood, but now she’s drawing attention for another reason. The actress donated the sweeping, one-shoulder gown to the Penélope Cruz/Chopard Auction, which took place in Cannes yesterday, to help raise money for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization. A lucky philanthropic bidder dished out 17,000 euros (about $21,000) for the one-of-a-kind Bordeaux silk-georgette dress, along with the original sketch for the gown, signed by Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, and cementing its status as a wearable work of art.
