Style Icon: Jane Birkin

Here are some photos of model and actress Jane Birkin. Such easy and effortless style, no? A sense of style we see today on another style icon, Kate Moss.

Picking a Red Lipstick!

I personally adore red lipstick. I've always loved it ever since I was able to get my hands on my Mom's red lipstick back in elementary school (and quickly rubbing it off on the way back home...oh, but she KNEW...haha!) I don't wear red lipstick daily, but there are some days I wear it to feel prettier and some days I wear it to feel more confident or just give me that little "I'm a vintage puh-rin-cesss" vibe. No matter the season or whatever the trends are in make-up, red lipstick will always be a classic and will always be in style. But how to go about choosing the right color for you?

Warm Skin Tones: Orangey reds, Warm reds, Tomato reds, Brown based reds, Golden reds, Tawny reds.

Cool Skin Tones: Pink tones of red, Berry Reds, Blackberry Reds, Brick Reds, Blue tones of Red, Plum tones.

All Skin Tones: Think London bus red! A true red!;)

---- TIPS ON CHOOSING RED LIPSTICK ---

1.] Try it on! And when you do try it on, don't try it on your hands please. Red lipstick is going to look much different on your hand than on your lips.

2.] If you don't know what your skin tone is just remember cool skin tones have fair complexions with pink undertones (think Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson) and warmer skin tones have olive or blue undertones (think Penelope Cruz, Keira Knightley, or Freida Pinto)

3.] Red lipsticks with blue undertones will make your teeth look whiter.

4.] If you're not sure you can pull of red lipstick you can always go for a red lip stain or red lip gloss. My favorite is Russian Red by M.A.C.

5.] Who says it has to be evening to wear red lipstick? Red lipstick is fun and cheery! If you're having a bit of a grey day, swipe on some red lipstick and you will feel better, I promise!

6.] Help keep red lipstick on longer by using a lip primer. Also make sure your lips are not dry or chapped before putting on red lipstick (or any lipstick for that matter).

7.] The secret to wearing red lipstick: BE CONFIDENT! Wearing red lipstick should give you just a little more "oomph" in your step. Make you smile a little brighter. It makes me happy that's for sure.

Scarlett Johansson for Mango Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

She looks stunning !! this beautiful actress is once again starring in their new ad campaign for spring/summer 2010. The campaign was shot in NYC by photographer Mario Sorrenti, styled by Damián Sánchez, the Creative Director of Mango, hairstyling and make-up was provided by Bob Recine and Stéphane Marais.

I quite like this new campaign, love the blank stare of Scarlett and love the “DARK” but lively mood in the background. She looks sexy and beautiful as usual!

Swarovski studded contact lenses

If you’re after a sexy glint in your eye, then maybe this is for you: Swarovski studded contact lenses.

The crystal contact lenses were designed by Anthony Mallier, for the Crystal Vision competition sponsored by famous brand Swarovski.

To create the bizarre but beautiful look, Mallier fused tiny crystals around the edge of a contact lens.

"Swarovski has been synonymous with adding that extra sparkle to everyday life," Mallier said. "Swarovski crystals have the power to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary through their sheer brilliance. Sparkle is one such attempt to enhance the expression of one of our most expressive features: our eyes."

The sparkly eye bling lenses are currently unavailable to purchase, and there has been no mention as to whether they are comfortable (or painful) to wear.

First prize for the competition went to Jeremy Doherty, who created a Swarovski encrusted computer mouse.

Ideal Hair Color ..

20s: Get a Subtle Boost
"The biggest mistake women can make at this age involves a drastic change in color," says Joel Warren, head colorist and co-owner of the Warren-Tricomi salons in New York City. "Instead of choosing an extreme monochromatic shade, add face-flattering highlights or lowlights."

30s: Keep It Simple
Consider your lifestyle. Brighter hues fade faster (especially reds) and require the most maintenance. In Warren's experience, women in their 30s are working hard and often wait the longest to head back to the salon. Pick a dye close to your natural shade so your roots are less glaring.

* 40s: Be a Natural Beauty
"Think about the way your hair looked in your youth, and try to bring back that shade," advises Warren. If your hair is damaged or naturally coarse, opt for a semi-permanent rinse; it won't last as long as permanent color, but your hair will retain more moisture and shine.

Hottest celebrity mums

* Angelina Jolie. Jolie has three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, as well as three biological children - Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. With parents like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, they clearly win the title for best looking family in Hollywood.

*Isla Fisher. Isla’s first child Olive may be joined by a baby brother or sister very soon. Isla has recently been spotted out and about in Los Angeles with what looks suspiciously like a baby bump, fuelling speculation she is pregnant with her second child.

*Gwen Stefani. Gwen has proved to be a hands-on mum, with paparazzi constantly snapping shots of her, hubby Gavin, and their fashion forward toddler Kingston on play-dates. The newest addition to the family, Zuma, is already getting an early introduction to the fashion world, and was spotted front row at NY Fashion Week earlier this year for Gwen’s L.A.M.B catwalk show. Hey Gwen, adopt us any time you like!

*Heidi Klum. She’s a mother of four, not that you’d ever pick it with a body like hers. Heidi’s children Henry, Johan, and daughter Helene welcomed Lou in October 2009. While Heidi publicly copped flak for not choosing a “prettier” name for a girl, she didn’t seem to mind, saying, "She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years." Awww.

*Supermodel Gisele showed off her freakishly good-looking genes, posing for a spread in Vogue three months after giving birth to son Benjamin. Benjamin wasn’t her first choice of name, and she originally wanted to call him River. But footballer hubby Tom Brady apparently kicked that name to the curb pretty quickly.

Summer Beauty Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

The mistake: Spending the summer at the pool or in the sun without switching up your hair products.

The quick fix: Like your sexy epidermis, your gorgeous hair can get stressed out by sun’s rays, so pile on the SPF-filled products. With UVA and UVB protection, Paul Mitchell Color Protect Locking Spray helps prevent color fade and keeps hair shiny, while Fréderic Fekkai’s Apple Cider Purifying Shampoo removes chlorine buildup.

The mistake: Walking in sandals and flip-flops can make your feet dry and rough-to-the-touch in no time flat. (It’s not exactly sexy when you go to curl up to your summer fling in bed.)

The quick fix: Try a foot-specific product like Kiehl’s Intensive Treatment and Moisturizer for Dry or Callused Areas, which has the kind of serious oils and shea butter ingredients that would be too heavy-duty for other parts of the body. And just like that long-sleeve tee tip, sleeping in socks after moisturizing will help soften your feet overnight.

The mistake: Going in the surf ‘n’ sun right after shaving, waxing or laser hair removal.

The quick fix: Because skin is extra sensitive then, you could get a not-so-pretty rash. Skip the pool or surf and just hang out in the shade (with some guac) for a few solid hours after dehairing.

The mistake: Thinking your midsummer nightcap won’t affect your beauty sleep.

The quick fix: A few rounds at bedtime and you can wake up with dull, dry skin. Gulp a glass of water before you go to sleep to help rehydrate your bod—and eliminate the dreaded hangover headache.

The mistake: Applying an SPF-filled moisturizer only in the morning.

The quick fix: Your A.M. ritual is a good start, but for dewy skin, you should moisturize each and every night. Keep a fan or AC on and sleep in a long-sleeve shirt and leggings—the fabric helps traps the moisture in.

The mistake: Applying SPF too quickly when you’re already out in the sun.

The quick fix: Swear off the speedy spray ‘n’ play approach. Give yourself a good chunk of time to make sure you get every single square inch and apply 30 minutes before going out, says Vermén M. Verallo-Rowell, M.D., author of Skin in the Tropics: “Sunscreen needs time to soak in.”

Serious Dark Eye Circles?

Bobbi Brown Has Expert Makeup Tips to Help!!
the best way to brighten extremely dark under eye circles (circles that have a greenish or purplish tinge to them) is to start with a pink- or peach-toned corrector, then layer on the yellow-toned concealer. The pink or peach shade may work alone sometimes, but mostly you’ll need to layer it.

She is a Canadian SUPERmodel and if you look at the definition of “fierce” in the dictionary, you’ll see her face.

Filling in your brows always make you look more finished, polished and put together. This crayon-tpe pencil is the perfect color; I use it everyday with my laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.”
